Manifesto
Clothing as a stable object in an unstable image.
HALLUCIGEN began in a rented room in Maboneng with one industrial machine and a refusal to make anything disposable. We cut heavy. We sew slow. We keep the runs small enough that every piece leaves the studio having been handled by someone who knows its name.
Our references are not runways. They are compression artefacts, printer misfires, surveillance stills, the smear a screen leaves behind when you look away. We build garments that carry that residue in their construction: taped seams left visible, dye lots that drift, hems weighted so the fabric falls instead of floats.
Everything is made in South Africa. We work with two small cut-and-sew partners in Johannesburg and pay per garment, not per minute. Fabric is sourced in full rolls and used until it is finished — there is no second colourway waiting in a warehouse.
AW26 is six pieces. That is the whole collection. When a size runs out, it is out until we decide it deserves another run.
